I had bought a $300 pair of Maui Jim sunglasses. The lens got scratched and needed replacement. Shipped it to Maui Jim in Illinois (had to pay $60 for the repair). They shipped it back to me, and I noticed there was a scratch on the new lens. Had it shipped back to them. Their repair man tells me he can’t find the scratch. Now I know the techs aren’t worth their weight. The scratch is hard to see, but it can be seen at the right angle, and I am 100% dead sure there was a scratch on the new lens they shipped me.

I had no choice but to have them ship it back to me as it was, scratch and all.

But… the package gets lost. I notify Maui Jim. The tech takes a week to get back to me. He transfers me to customer service, they tell me it’s going to take 5 to 10 working days to resolve the missing package. After a week, I call them back, they tell me I have to file a lost package claim with USPS.

I file the claim, and Maui Jim says they’ll ship me a replacement eyewear out the next day. The next day I get a call telling me that my pair is no longer in stock. They have to mail me a gift card for $300 valid at Maui Jim’s website only. Then I realize that I have to pay sales tax (again) on my purchase. This isn’t right. Now I’ll be out an extra $30 because of sales tax.

Not only did the tech miss the scratch, I had to wait approx 3 weeks, then create a case w/ USPS and now.. I’ll be out another $30 on sales tax.

Most eyewear companies are very liberal with their customer service. Eyewear is a fashion item and the markups are profitable. The fact that Maui Jim made me go through so many hoops to finally end up w/ a gift card is unfair. I’m also out the original $60 I paid for the repair. So basically $90 im out.

They have silly Hawaiian music on hold too. Their whole Hawaiian theme is silly. Their office is in Peoria Illinois.

AT&T customer service is absolutely terrible. We currently have AT&T business phone and DSL services, and they have to be one of the WORST customer oriented companies I have ever experienced. Just trying to get someone on the line is a miracle in and of itself.

We were given a dedicated account rep, but he’s since disappeared. All I get is voicemail now, and I have no clue how to reach him, his supervisor or anyone else that works in that dept. If I call the main AT&T support line, good luck in getting someone on the phone.

Once you do get someone on the phone (via a miracle of holding for hours), you get a spanish speaking person who’s taking overflows from the English line. She’s clueless about the whole situation, you’ve just wasted your entire afternoon.

AT&T, you suck, and you should shut down your doors… How unfortunate that you have a telephone monopoly in my area…

I find it unusually odd how some companies are almost too retail customer friendly, while other business just don’t give a rat’s ass.. and the both seem to thrive in the market place…

Magic Jack & YMax Corp.

Bottom Line: Completely Unethical Business Practices. The worst example of corporate greed and poor customer service. Outsourcing of service run amok in the worst way.

I purchased a Magic Jack on 7/10/08 after seeing a TV shopping channel feature. I was a bit curious about this product and wanted to try it.

The shopping channel featured a host and they guaranteed that the product billing would not take place until 30 days later, and that if I wasn’t happy with the product, I would get free shipping back to their warehouse.

I thought, no risk. Free shipping to and from the manufacturer, and I get to test the product out. If it works, great, if not, they’ll pay to have it shipped back.

I get the product on 7/14/08. I test the product. Much like Skype, it works “ok” when you aren’t surfing the web. Other times the sound is low, muffled or garbled. Basically unusable for serious business purposes.

I decide to have it shipped back.

I look around the original packaging, and curiously there is no return information or return labels. No phone number, no email.

I go online, and again, no email, no phone number to be found.

I check on Network Solution’s website for their Whois information, and again, no phone number listed.

Very very odd.

I use their online chat system, talk to several different reps, all outsourced from overseas no less, and they all tell me that I have to pay for the shipping back. I mention the commercial and the TV offer, and they give me the same “canned” message. I must pay for shipping back. I ask if their tv offer is a lie. They say, “customer must pay for shipping back”. You just end up talking around in circles with these robotic online chat reps.

BTW, I think online chat service is the biggest waste of time ever invented.

I check my credit card, and what do you know. They’ve already billed my credit card. They weren’t supposed to do that for 30 days.

I google the company, and lo and behold, a list of online complaints about this company that’s a mile long.

A complete shame and a complete scam. The biggest example of corporate greed and poor customer service I have ever witnessed. I am shocked and disbelieving that a company can spend this amount of money to “get” customers and do so little to retain them.

Shame on you !!

Corporate Heads:

Daniel Borislow
Founder and Inventor

Donald A. Burns
CEO and Chairman of the Board

James H. Donlon
Chief Marketing Officer

Peter Russo
Chief Financial Officer

These guys should be whipped and embarrassed for their business practices. A complete embarrassment!! They get whatever shame is coming to them.

I was able to google the company YMax, but the only numbers listed do not have a human answering them. 561-586-3380 and 281-404-1551, all ask you to go online and use their online chat system.

How can a company in America get so much media write-up and be so degenerate?

Magic Jack & Ymax Corp – Even if your product did work, I’d stay away from it because your practices are so unimaginably disgusting.

According to the Better Business Bureau they currently have a rating of “F”.

Stated from the BBB: See Page 2 Below.

They used a totally automated voice mail system to take down my order. They apparently had my email address completely wrong.

I used HSBC’s Visa card to place this order, I hope they can help me nail these bastards.

Everyone who’s been burned by Ymax and Magic Jack needs to contact the local BBB of West Palm Beach – 562-842-1918 or 562-844-1987 or 772-335-2017 or 772-223-1492 or bbb.org
