Why I'm not a Christian.
12/20/04
Note: I in no way am trying to disparage the Christian
faith. I am merely expressing my thoughts on the subject and enlightening my
audience as to why I do not embrace it. Anyone is free to believe whatever they
choose as long as your faith does not interfere in other's personal freedom.
Intro: I've read the bible through and through. I don't think many Christians
can claim that.
Why I'm not a Christian
1. I've grown up.
2. It would be unfair to the other great religions.
3. I'm reasonable, objective and rational.
4. I don't believe everything I read
5. I ultimately follow my own "voice".
6. Too many people believing in "it". Makes me suspicious.
7. Too much "faith" required, a leap that ultimately doesn't make sense.
8. The entire Christian idea doesn't make any sense to me.
9. As far as I know, no true scientist is a Christian.
10. There is nothing special about Christianity that makes it any truer or falser
than any other major religion. Thus, why Chrisitianity, except that you were just
born into it.
11. The trinity: God is three people but one God? The Father, The Son and the
Holy Spirit? Huh? Think about it..
12. The story goes that Jesus died on the cross to wipe away our sins.
Why does God need this whole ritual? The idea that he has to create this entire
scenario where he has to send his Son (himself - part of the Trinity) to be killed by the
Romans and Jews, so that he can be the "symbolic" sacrificial lamb and thus
cleanse the world of all sins.. OK. That's a far stretch, and quite a story.
