Business owners hate Yelp. Ask any business owner. They hate Yelp.
Business owners are at the mercy of Yelp reviewers with very little power.
Complaints abound, amounting to basically a ton of legitimate and positive reviews getting consistently “back drawered”.
Yelp is nothing more than a directory page for businesses with the ability for users to rate and comment about a company’s product/services.
The problem I have with Yelp is that it’s too strongly skewed to the customer. The business owner has very little power to respond or negate anything nonsensical written about them.
Users have the ability to kill a business, while a person who has saved and toiled for years to setup their dream can go down in flames because of a few nasty haters.
The influence is too heavily skewed to the user. Unless a business owner is wiling to shell out advertising dollars with Yelp to “promote” their company, they are left to the mercy of the 5% to 10% of the haters that make up the 90% of the user base.
Something needs to be done to give business owners a chance to run their business and make their dreams come true.
Yelp sucks for business.

Quite humorous that Yelp is hated by users even on their own website.
Yelp is hated even more on Google Local: https://plus.google.com/111467544375915565045/about?gl=us&hl=en

Why don’t you chime in and give Yelp a taste of their own medicine…
